WWDC 2026: Apple Finally Stopped Gatekeeping AI 🚪
Apple Foundation Models on Private Cloud Compute is now free for developers under two million first-time downloads, plus the framework gains image input and server-side calls to models like Claude and Gemini through the same Swift API.
Core AI, a new on-device framework for generative models, and Xcode adopting MCP for third-party agents round things out. Between free model access, on-device inference, and an IDE that plays nice with outside tools, Apple finally feels like it's opening the gate for developers.
